The Florence area is known for its vast offering of arts and handcrafted items. Exhibits rotate in the downtown restaurants, focusing on regional artists and artisans. The Florence County Museum has built an incredible new facility on the corner of Dargan and Cheves streets. One of the many arts-related exhibits features William H. Johnson, one of the great American artists of the 20th century who was born in Florence.
For two weeks in the spring, Lake City is the site of an epic Southern Arts Fest: ArtFields. Also in Lake City, The Jones-Carter Gallery has frequent Smithsonian level art exhibits that really create a buzz. The Florence Regional Arts Alliance boosts arts throughout the county through many grants and arts endeavors.
The Lynda English Gallery functions as a working arts studio and gallery. Lynda English and Jackie Wukela hold a wide range of workshops and classes regularly. There are tons of arts-related events in Florence.
