Your first stop traveling Highway 52 south from Florence is the quaint town of Coward (population 752) where you’ll find Lynches River County Park. At Lynches, the fun is endless! You can go kayaking, bird-watching, river fishing, and hiking, and then cozy up in a cabin for a rustic overnight stay.

Don’t forget to stop by the Environmental Discovery Center while you’re there to visit the gator and turtles, and trek through the tree canopy on the swinging boardwalk. Got kids? They’ll love the splash pad during the summer!

Just down the road in Olanta is Woods Bay State Natural Area. Afterwards, check out Fatback’s BBQ for a traditional Southern feast.
