The Full Life Festival, a celebration of health and wellness in Florence, is September 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the city gymnasium: 500 Barnes Street downtown Florence (it’s a short street parallel to Evans and Darlington Streets just behind the Federal Building).
They have a great lineup of nearly 50 exhibitors from around the Florence community including: lots of giveaways and door prizes, a complementary meal provided by Clean Eatz, free admission, a smoothie bike, boiled peanuts hot from McCall Farms, recipe give-aways, fitness (yoga, tai chi, Zumba, fit & strong, etc) and outdoor equipment (bikes) demonstrations, health screenings (A1C, blood pressure, BMI, vision, depression, oral health, and HIV/Hep C), diabetes counseling, lifestyle coaching, information about a range of wellness topics and exhibitors promoting active living like Girls Scouts, Pee Dee Healthy Start, Phil’s Bicycle World (they’re starting a youth cycling team)
And across the street at 200 Sanborn Street, the new building for the City Center Market is ALMOST ready so FOR ONE DAY ONLY, the city will set up the City Center Farmers Market there and it will be going on at the same time. At the Farmers Market, folks can buy locally grown fruits and vegetables, local, pasture-raised beef, pork, and chicken, milk, butter, cheese, handmade crafts, fresh breads.
Please also note that the market accepts the SNAP EBT cards and WIC and Senior vouchers. Also, for SNAP cardholders, we offer the Healthy Bucks tokens which work like this: if you use your SNAP EBT card to buy any qualified item at the market, the market manager gives you an additional $10 in tokens to use for buying fruits and vegetables.
