The Florence County Museum and Visiting Artist, Catherine Cross Tsintzos, are pleased to offer this exciting series of 3 virtual indigo workshops exploring all aspects of Indigofera Suffruticosa (Indigo) from seed to dye.
- The first virtual workshop is Indigo in the Garden and will be held on June 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $25. You can grow INDIGO in your garden! Participants will discover ways to incorporate Indigofera Suffruticosa into the garden by learning the basics of environmental requirements, starting plants from seed, plant care, and continued maintenance. All participants will receive seeds for planting by mail.*

- The second virtual workshop is Dyeing with Natural Indigo. This will be held July 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $50. Join visiting artist, Catherine Cross Tsintzos as she teaches how to create resist patterns and dye natural fibers with indigo. Participants will learn how to create an Indigo Ferrous Vat, create resist patterns, and dye natural fibers.
- The third virtual workshop is Harvesting and Extracting Indigo. This will be held on August 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $25. Join visiting artist Catherine Cross Tsintzos as she shares her practice of harvesting indigo and extracting the coveted dye from the plant. Participants will learn when and how to harvest Indigofera Suffruticosa, ways to extract
dye from the plant, proper storage for dried plant or dye powder, and how to harvest and save seeds for next year’s garden.
