This September The Florence County Library is joining the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide for Library Card Sign-Up Month, a time to remind parents, caregivers and students that a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning.

Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children.  Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning.

Libraries offer free and fun educational resources and activities that bring families and communities together.  The Florence County Library offers a variety of programming for all ages, from babies to children, teens, and adults.

The Florence County Library is offering a prize to children ages 2-12 that get a new library card in September while supplies last.
