Florence After Five Returns Friday in Downtown Florence with Music and Fun!
After a year off for reasons we all know, the Florence After Five outdoor monthly music concert and block party returns THIS Friday from Downtown Florence featuring the band Hip Pocket!
The events run 5:30-8:30pm, with the band hitting the stage at 6pm in the 100 block of South Dargan Street.
Hip Pocket says unapologetically it’s a party band and where “the fun begins”, comparing themselves to the Band of Oz from the 1980s or Bill Deal & The Rhondels of the 70s (both also party bands).
A party needs food and drink, so Downtown Florence populates the festivities with vendors who accept tickets that can be purchased at the event’s ticket booth located near the Florence County Museum (keep an eye out for their huge ticket flag). Tickets are $1.
Rumor has it we travel in cars, so parking is found in the free parking garage located at 150 South Irby Street and on West Evans Street and North Dargan Street, the South Carolina DHEC parking lot, or the BTC Building parking lot. Restrooms are in the James Allen Plaza.
A new quirk for 2021: MUSC Florence Medical Center will offer a free on-site COVID-19 vaccination clinic at each Florence After 5 event. Speaking of the pandemic, they are encouraging guests to socially distance where possible and to use face masks if social distance cannot be maintained for unvaccinated guests. Sanitizer stations will be available at various locations throughout.
This is a monthly party that will again continue through October!
Other acts scheduled to perform this season include the Carolina Breakers July 30, the Cat 5 Band Aug. 27, the Embers Sept. 24 and Chocolate Chip and Co Oct. 29.
Florence After Five, in its 12th year, is sponsored by: Carolina Bank, MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, Victors, and Victory Beer, with its June monthly concert sponsor being Crescent Advisory Partners of Raymond James.
In 2020, Florence After Five was awarded “Best Community Festival,” “Best Place to Dance,” “Best Outdoor Event,” “Best Local Concert,” and “Best Place for Live Music.”
