Holiday Season Events Descend on Florence County!

It’s a WEIRD year, so the holiday season and its events are more important than ever to lift our spirits! We’re not going to let the Grinch take over, are we?
The holiday season kicks into high gear this week with Christmas-related events, timed with the arrival of sparkling multicolored lights and seasonal decorations from city streets, homes and businesses that change the mood.

Once again, we’ve compiled a list of holiday events so it’s easier to find stuff to do! Check back because we will update the blog as new events pop up or we see something not on the list yet.

Santa Claus Photos at the Magnolia Mall
It’s a little different this year due to the ultimate Grinch, COVID-19, but Santa Claus returns to Magnolia Mall through Christmas Eve! This year they are requesting reservations be made and photo packages ordered in advance. Click here for reservations.

Every Monday through December 14 people can also bring their pets for Santa photos! All pets must be on a leash, in a carrier, or held by the owner at all times. Owners must sign a release prior to visiting Santa. Pet owners should use the mall entrance near Hibbett Sports.

Nov. 20-Nov. 22

Jingle Bell Market at Florence Center
Jingle Bell Market is an upscale, indoor holiday shopping show hosted at the Florence Center. This event includes gifts, crafts, apparel, accessories, garden art, gourmet foods, wine tastings and much more. General admission to this one-stop holiday shop is $8, and hours are Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday 10am-7pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm.

During Jingle Bell Market, Raines Hospitality is offering a special stay the night deal at Courtyard by Marriott! The hotel is adjacent to Florence Center. For reservation information, please call 843-662-7066.

Holiday Walk-thru Parade at Magnolia Mall
From 12-2pm, Magnolia Mall celebrates Santa’s arrival with a Holiday Walk-thru Parade! Walk through a seasonal experience greeted by holiday entertainment, vendors, area businesses and non-profit organizations all in the holiday spirit! Includes classic holiday tunes, selfie opportunities with your favorite characters, holiday giveaways and more.

Holiday Home Show at Magnolia Mall
Magnolia Mall’s Holiday Home Show features local vendors showcasing Paparazzi, Color Street and more!

Lights 4 Paws
At Lights 4 Paws, you’ll enjoy a spectacular quarter mile trail of thousands of lights, merry music and festive decorations, all to benefit animals through the Florence Area Humane Society! Admission is by donations, and as always well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome. Due to COVID-19, masks are required and social distancing must be observed; also, there will be no hot cocoa & cookies and Santa this year. Visit Lights 4 Paws from 6-9pm at 3251 Mears Drive near Forest Lake.

Small Business Saturday
From 10am-4pm, SHOP SMALL in Downtown Florence during Small Business Saturday! Enjoy holiday shopping and downtown dining with special sales and promotions. While you’re visiting the Downtown businesses, don’t forget to stop by the table at the corner of Dargan and Evans for a Shop Local tote bag giveaway, a holiday photo-op, and a Letters to Santa activity for the kids!

City Center Gift Market at City Center Farmers Market
The City Center Farmers Market presents the City Center Gift Market from 3-7pm on Small Business Saturday! Shop local artisans and food makers, take pictures with Santa on a tractor, roast marshmallows and nab a cup of hot chocolate from a CCFM elf!

Dec. 3

Christmas Sounds & More (Nov. 25 deadline to register)
From noon to 1:30pm, the Leatherman Senior Center offers an hour-long concert by singer/songwriter Bhakati Larry Hough with Christmas melodies and American songs. Hough has been singing jazz, gospel, and soul music professionally for 15 years. Registration for this event is required, and the deadline to register is Wednesday, November 25. Cost to attend is $20 per person for Florence County residents, and $25 per person for those outside of Florence County.

Lake City Community Hospital Santa Drive-Thru
Lake City Community Hospital has their Santa Drive-Thru from 5-7pm. Santa will be there with treats for the kids!

Dec. 4-Dec. 31

5th Annual Holiday Music and Light Show
The 5th Annual Holiday Music and Light Show located on the 100 block of S. Dargan Street in Florence starts Dec. 4 at 5pm! The free walk-through show plays holiday hits as a variety of lights change and dance along with the music. It happens nightly from 5-10pm until December 31st. Please practice social distancing while enjoying the music and lights!

WetNoseDogs presents Santa Paws for the Florence Area Humane Society
From 6-10pm at Seminar Brewing, WetNoseDogs presents Santa Paws that benefits the Florence Area Humane Society. Vendors, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, live music, and more for a great cause!

Hometown Holidays in Lake City
From 10am-10pm each day, Hometown Holidays in Lake City wows at the Bean Market! Friday includes Lake City’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Saturday will be packed with even more activities, including live holiday music and dance performances. Sunday’s lengthy list includes free professional photo sessions courtesy of NDC Photography, and sales and boutique shopping opportunities. Downtown merchants in holiday-themed shops invite patrons to create Christmas crafts, ornaments, letters to Santa, and more all weekend long. Lastly, there is the annual “Hometown Holidays on Ice” free ice skating on Saturday and Sunday. To participate, pre-register here.

Wildlife Winterfest
From 4-7pm, enjoy free family holiday fun at Lynches River County Park with the seventh annual Wildlife Winterfest! This year, the event will offer visitors a safe, mostly outdoor experience. Activities will include: food trucks and stations, including a s’mores station; live animal presentations featuring rescued and rehabilitated wildlife from Black Creek Nature Center; light displays; holiday-themed photo opportunities; and holiday music.

Christmas Open House at Palmetto Peddlers
At 10am, Palmetto Peddlers offers a Christmas Open House featuring sales, decorations and music!

Holiday Wreath Making at Forest Lake Greenhouses
Get in the holiday spirit with everything you need to create all-natural, one-of-a-kind wreaths. Warm drinks and tasty bites will be provided and photographer Laura Hoefer will be on hand. Bring an apron and bundle up…because you may work outside. Gloves and pruners will be provided. Following the workshop there will be time for socializing, shopping and viewing thousands of poinsettias and more grown at Forest Lake Greenhouses. Amaryllis and paper whites will be blooming as well! This event is limited to 10 people to ensure proper social distancing. The event will take place in an open-air greenhouse, so please dress accordingly to the weather. Tickets are $100 and may be purchased here.

Legends Comics Holiday Fest 2020 at the Staybridge Suites
Legends Comics Holiday Fest 2020 from 10am-6pm at the Staybridge Suites is a FREE Christmas Time Comicon hosted by Legend’s Comics, the oldest comic book store in South Carolina. There should be plenty of comics, pops, and toys for everyone!
