Timrod Park is an 18 acre park located on Timrod Park Drive. The park is named for Henry Timrod, the poet laureate of the Confederacy, who wrote the lyrics to the state anthem “Carolina.”

The single room schoolhouse where Henry Timrod taught at the plantation of Col. William Henry Cannon is preserved in the park.

The city park has 11 lighted tennis courts and 10 pickleball courts, a playground, picnic areas, a picnic shelter, a gazebo, a fitness area, an amphitheater and handicap accessible nature trails.
