Intrinsic Duality Exhibit
Jones-Carter Gallery | 105 Henry St, Lake City, SC 29560, USA
This body of work explores the tension between our innate sense of morality and the physical impulses that challenge its boundaries. Each piece reflects the quiet, daily negotiation between what we understand to be right and what our bodies urge us toward. While these themes are not always overt in the imagery, they surface subtly and persistently throughout the work.
Though my perspective is rooted in a Christian framework, the work is not intended to be explicitly religious. Instead, it inhabits the in-between—the grey areas where dualities blur and opposing forces coexist. I am drawn to those moments in which we embody both light and shadow, conviction and compulsion. The imagery invites shifting interpretations, revealing different understandings depending on the emotional or psychological state of the viewer. Ultimately, these works are meant to evoke an internal recognition that we are deeply connected through our shared capacity to hold conflicting emotions, impulses, and characteristics at once.
