Coward is a small town in Florence County on Highway 52, just south of Florence. The town is also near South Carolina Highway 541. Coward is known for its quiet setting and rural charm. It offers visitors a peaceful look at life in the Pee Dee.

Surrounded by farmland, forests, and country roads, the town’s history is rooted in agriculture, timber, and the railroad. Tobacco, cotton, and corn were once major local crops. The Frick Sawmill also supported the town for nearly 50 years. Today, this quiet town is a simple and scenic stop.
