Visiting the Florence area and enjoyed the trail today for the first time. You can walk on the level Asphalt Trail, or take a parallel trail through the woods right next to the asphalt trail that has lots of places to jump back on to the asphalt trail. Also, plenty of shade along both options. People of all ages and abilities could enjoy this trail, including runners, people in wheelchairs, and children. (I’m not sure of all the trailhead entrances as far as accessibility.) Feels safe if you’re visiting alone, because it’s a well traveled trail.

Updated with fall pics! So glad I found this trail! I've walked the McLeod Fitness and Spa trail several times but never knew that the Florence Rail Trail started here as well. I loved the different terrains and the shady path. You get the best of both worlds; natural and a paved path. There are so many ways to extend your walk/hike. I will definitely be back!

Don't park at the McLeod parking area if you want to ride street bikes. The trail is not paved for 1/4 to 1/2 of a mile and there are roots sticking up in the dirt. When we got to the paved part, it was nice but not very long. About a 15 minute bike ride one direction.

I would love to give it a better rating but it is not kept up very well. Water wash outs. Steps are not that great.

Could be kept up a little nicer at the entrance.

Definitely our favorite place to spend time outside in Florence. This area of the trail is not paved, but is a great spot for walking and bringing your dog. It does get quite buggy during the warmer months.
