Charlie was our server and she had the best attitude. She went beyond for us. This homey restaurant is only 4 miles off 378 in Johnsonville. The food and the service beats anything you get closer to the beach!! The owner makes fresh pies and cakes daily. The coconut pie was the best. The coffee is great!! We saw a review on YouTube on the Baby Bronco & Big Trike channel. We will go back.

Solid place to get a meal. I had the Philly and fries. Flavor was good. Not plain like so many i have had. Worth a stop for a fresh hot meal.

My wife and I enjoyed country-cooking lunch there today. The food and service were excellent. Some of the best fried chicken anywhere, but the vegetables (especially the white lima beans) were too salty for my taste and health. I recommend the selection of entrees, but Shady Rest lunches are expensive for a family restaurant (meat and three vegetables $12.95 and $11.95 for four vegetables).
