This course is par excellence! Well worth it if you get a chance! I had the opportunity to play it during a golf tournament. It is a beautiful course with pristine fairways! The greens are very fast but manageable with the right approach shot. I would love to play it again but it’s private so the next opportunity will most likely be a tournament!

Beautiful facilities that first opened around 1921. Beautiful tree lined entrance sets the stage for your arrival. Very well manicured course. Club House speaks of "Carolina" Golf from the moment you arrive.

What makes this course special is its thoughtful design that rewards precision while offering recovery opportunities. While the original designer is unknown, the layout features several tee shots requiring careful placement rather than raw distance. When slightly off target, the course provides ample recovery options. This creates an engaging experience where a single errant shot doesn't ruin your scorecard, but consistently poor execution will be reflected in your final tally. The layout incorporates natural features seamlessly. Water hazards and tree lines feel organic rather than artificially imposed. Doglegs reward brave carries while offering safer alternatives for conservative play. The most distinctive feature is the sophisticated green complexes. Approach shots demand precision, as being on the wrong side of the pin can lead to challenging three-putts. The greens feature numerous micro-breaks requiring careful attention. Florence Country Club is private, requiring either a member friend invitation or participation in a USGA event to play. While this limits access, it helps maintain the impeccable conditions and relaxed pace that make the course special. This course represents golf at its finest—challenging yet fair, beautiful yet functional. The precision required from tee to green, coupled with the subtle challenges of the putting surfaces, ensures a comprehensive test of your abilities without feeling overly punitive. I really enjoyed the lunch buffet today with my friends. The mashed potatoes and chicken were super. The pie and coffee were especially good. The atmosphere was fancy but not overly and the waitress was delightful and right on top of keeping our table organized. There were a bunch of us so it couldn't have been easy for her. I really liked her but I forgot to ask her name. 🙁
