Oct 10, 2026 · Google ReviewMy wife and I enjoy lengthy road trips. We recently, on an I-95 drive, stopped overnight at the Hotel Florence, in Florence, SC. We decided to just have dinner that night in the hotel restaurant, Victor's Chophouse. Our meal was one of the most delightful, enjoyable, delicious and thoroughly surprising meals we have had in a long time - a fine dining experience for sure, without even looking for one. We had the she crab soup, the roasted black bass, Anne spinach salad and the smoked, seared scallops. The chef is truly talented - obviously very skilled at procuring fine ingredients and even more talented in creating complementary and subtle combinations of flavor. The roasted black bass entree was jaw-dropping good. The restaurant is an outstanding example of the best of "New Southern Cooking" and we highly recommend it to anyone in the area or traveling through. We will stop again for sure on our next trip that way. P.S. Even with all of the raves above, the cornbread was the competitor to the black bass for the single most delicious serving put on the table.
